This video shows two dramatically different results - one that was created using traditional orthodontics techniques and one that was created using Biobloc Orthotropics™.

|
Traditional orthodontics focuses on
straightening teeth and often retracts
them (pulls them back) in the face.
Retraction often results in poor facial appearance.
We strive to develop the entire face forward creating an attractive facial appearance and a broad, gorgeous smile. |

Crooked teeth and bad bites are a sympton of unfavorable dentofacial growth caused by poor oral posture - the way the tongue, teeth and lips are held at rest. Because breathing through the mouth rather than the nose is frequently the cause of poor oral posture, we search for the cause of mouth breathing and work to change the pattern to nose breathing. This not only optimizes facial development, but also the stability of any orthodontic result. |

Many people assume that orthodontic treatment will take two or more years to complete. Our non-extraction approach eliminates the need to close extraction spaces. Closing those spaces usually takes several months. Focusing on the end result from the very first appointment allows us to treat many cases in a year or less. |

Adults, unhappy with previous orthodontic treatment results, can often have dramatic improvements. Treatment may be as simple as broadening the smile or as involved as opening spaces where teeth were extracted and replacing teeth. Sometimes even simple changes may help reduce or eliminate headaches and/or TMJ symptoms and may even eliminate OSA.

This video, hosted by Dr. Hang, describes how your airway works and the impact that different orthodontic treatments can have on it.
|
|
Even a small reduction in tongue space created by the traditional method of pulling teeth back in the face can compromise the airway. Dr. Hang does not use extractions to alleviate crowding or retractive methods to camouflage jaws that are out of relationship with one another. Dr. Hang uses a variety of methods to create space for all of the teeth to be properly aligned. |

Improper skeletal relationships, poor facial balance and gummy smiles can be corrected at an early age. Dr. Hang's research also shows that impacted cuspids (eye teeth that are in the roof of the mouth and do not erupt) can usually be prevented if the child is seen at an early age. (Canine Impaction Identified Early with Panoramic Radiographs-Journal of the American Dental Association, March, 1992; Lindauer, Rubenstein, Hang, Andersen, Isaacson) It is critical to see children long before all permanent teeth are in the mouth if these problems are to be prevented and the best possible results achieved. |

|
Rather than focusing on the short term goal of straight teeth, we recognize that the whole body is involved when the teeth are not straight and the bite is poor. Dr. Hang's treatment plans are tailored to address whole body issues such as headaches, muscle pain, and airway issues. |
